conductive paint · midi controllers · pure data · experimental sound · 6h workshop in berlin
Are you interested in new ways of interfacing with sound, music, and painting? In this 6-hour hands-on workshop, art supplies become sound tools. Build a custom MIDI controller with conductive paint, and use it to warp, mutate, and generate sound with Pure Data. Open to anyone.
In this day-long workshop, we'll demystify capacitance, draw and exchange designs, make connections, and look under the hood of Pd patches (just enough to see how the drawing talks to the sound). The workshop is split into two 2.5h blocks with a one-hour lunch/questions break. You will be provided with a library of selected Pure Data patches — from generative soundscapes and physical modeling synthesizers to chaotic samplers and delay-based manglers — hand picked to be explored by your hand-drawn controller.
you will leave with: a working one‑of‑a‑kind conductive‑ink MIDI controller, a library of experimental Pd patches, and a Bela Trill Craft sensor to continue at home.
